Grounding in Canakkale Strait
The 'Yalikoy' ran aground off Gelibolu in the northern Dardanelles, on Aug 27, 2022, while entering the Strait. The ship was en route from Ismajil to Amfilochía with a cargo of grain. The Canakkale Traffic Control deployed the tug 'Kurtarma 13' and the lifeboat 'Kiyem 9' to assist. As of Aug 29, the ship was stationary in pos. 40° 28.40 N 026° 47.23' E. Officer killed by snapping mooring line
The Turkish Chief Officer of the "Yalikov" was killed by a snapping mooring line which hit him at the head during berthing manoevers at Sagunto in the morning of Oct 8, 2019. A SAMU ambulance unit and a Basic Life Support were mobilized, but they could only assist the other crew member, who suffered a nose wound and a bruise on one hand. Subsequently, the injured man s, was taken to Sagunt Hospital. The paramedics declared the officer dead when they arrived on board.
