Cruise ship left Trieste delayed as thunderstorms affected flights
The AIDAblu' left the port of Trieste on Aug 31 with a delay of several hours and an increased speed. The ship had waited for passengers at the embarkation and disembarkation port of Kerkyra until late into the night because a thunderstorm in the region caused diversions and delays in air traffic on the evening of Aug 30. The ship finally sailed at around 2:30 a.m.,four and a half hours later than 10:00 p.m., as scheduled The delay was expected to be made up by sailing at a higher speed. Among other flights, an AIDA charter flight with guests from Düsseldorf was diverted to Athens due to the thunderstorm and arrived in Corfu significantly late. The Condor flight DE3664 landed in Corfu after an unscheduled stopover only at around 11:30 p.m. Lt. Guests from this and presumably other flights were brought to the 'AIDAblu' as quickly as possible after landing. The thunderstorms on Corfu also had consequences for returning AIDA guests. There were long waits due to delays and flight diversions. The aforementioned Condor flight with returning AIDA guests, flight number DE3665, had to land in Cologne due to a night flight ban at Düsseldorf Airport. The 'AIDAblu' was sailing on the "Greece from Corfu" route from Aug 23 to 30, and will sail the "Adriatic from Corfu 2" route from Aug 30 to Sep 6.
Medevac off Arrecife
The 'Aidablu', en route from San Sebastian de la Gomerato Arrecife, requested the medevac of a passsenger on the night of Feb 4. The SAR helicopter Helimer 202 was deployed to the ship, which was sailing 26 nautical miles from Arrecife, by Salvamento Marítimo. The affected woman was safely hoisted on board and taken to the airport of #Lanzarote, where an ambulance was waiting for further transport to hospital for medical care on a higher level.
Medevac off Tenerife
The medical evacuation of a female passenger from the 'Aidablu, en route from Las Palmas to Funchal, was requested 79 nautical miles north of Tenerife on Jan 13, 2025. The SAR helicopter Helimer 202 was mobilized by the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Tenerife, The woman was hoisted aboard along with the ship's doctor and subeseuqnetly tranported to the Negrín hospital in Las Palmas for further medical care.
