Crew member injured in fall on board
On the afternoon of june 16, 2024, the Port Authority of Patras was informed by the Master of the 'Hellenic Spirit' about the injury of a 55-year-old crew member inside the ship. While the man was in his cabin, he slipped, causing him to fall and injure his left hand. The injured person was transferred to the General Hospital of Patras for further examinations. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Central Port Authority of Patras.
Generator breakdown in Gulf of Patras
The Port Authority of Patras was informed by the Master of the 'Hellenic Spirit', about a generator breakdown, while serving the scheduled route from the port of Ancona to Patras with an intermediate stop at the port of Igoumenitsa, with 246 passengers and 160 vehicles on board, in the Gulf of Patras, in the vicinity of pos. 38 14 46 N, 021 22 22 E, on Sep 23, 2023, at 10.20 a.m. UTC. The vessel sailed under its own power to the port of Patras, where it was inspected by officers of the Port's Local Ship Inspection Division. They found that the intake valve in the No. 2 cylinder in the No. 2 electric engine of the vessel was broken. The Central Port Authority of Patras, which conducted a preliminary investigation, prohibited the departure of the vessel. Following repairs and the issue of class maintenance and seaworthiness certificates by the attending classification society, the vessel finally sailed from Patras en route to the ports of Igoumenitsa and Ancona.
Ferry suffered main engine trouble
In the afternoon of Sep 6, 2023, the 'Hellenic Spirit' with 573 passengers and 77 crew members on board, en route from Patras to Igoumenitsa and Ancona, suffered a breakdown of one of its four main engines and had return to the port of Patras. There, the necessary work was done to repair the damage, and the ship left the port again at 11.40 p.m. with an ETA at Ancona as of Sep 9.
