Trawler towed to Fraserburgh
On Aug 18, 2019, the "Rebecca Jenseen - OB38" was disabled after a rope fouled the propeller 29 miles off the port of Fraserburgh. The RNLI Lifeboat crew members were paged at 01.10 a.m. to assist of the fishing vessel. Arriving on scene they quickly established a tow and began to üull the "Rebecca Jeneen" back to Fraserburgh. After a few hours and only a few miles from Fraserburgh they were tasked to assist the distressed trawler "Ocean Quest" at 5.45 a.m. The HM Coastguard instructed the Fraserburgh Lifeboat to immediately go to the aid of the "Ocean Quest" which was taking in water quickly around 70 miles from land. The Buckie Lifeboat was paged to take over the final few miles of the original tow, taking the "Rebecca Jeneen" safely into Fraserburgh Harbour at 8.50 a.m. Meanwhile the Fraserburgh Lifeboat had covered 40 or 50 miles heading towards the "Ocean Quest" and were still around 20 miles away when they were advised that the crew of six or seven had been airlifted to safety. They were stood down by the Coastguard and returned to station at 10.05 a.m. On the way back they were informed that the "Ocean Quest" had sunk.
